South Pasadena Library Presents ‘Shanghai, the City of Innovation, 2017’

The entire community is invited for an opening reception for a professional photography exhibition entitled “Shanghai, the City of Innovation, 2017”.

The reception will be presented in the South Pasadena Library Community Room at 4 p.m. om Sunday, May 28th. The reception will feature opening remarks by Mayor Michael A. Cacciotti and others, and mark the launch of the weeklong photo exhibit for the public in the Community Room. After the reception on May 28th, the exhibit will remain open until 7 p.m.. On Monday, May 29th the photo exhibit will be closed all day in observance of Memorial Day. The exhibit will reopen on Tuesday, May 30th; Wednesday May 31st, and Thursday, June 1st when the viewing hours will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. For the exhibit’s last day on Friday, June 2nd, the exhibit will be open from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m.

Displayed in the exhibit will be significant new photographic artworks by highly accomplished American photographers who participated in the “Shanghai, in the Eyes of the World” professional photography competition. The contest was held as part of “Flying over Shanghai”, a virtual reality spectacular to “bring the human visual experiences to their utmost.”

The reception and the “Shanghai, the City of Innovation, 2017” photo exhibit are free and everyone is invited. No RSVPs are needed. The project is co-sponsored by the Information Office of Shanghai Municipality, Shanghai Pudong New Area People’s Government, the City of South Pasadena, The South Pasadena Chinese American Club, EDI Media, and the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library .who will also provide refreshments for the Opening Reception with special thanks to East West Bank of South Pasadena. The project has also been supported by the County of Los Angeles and the County of San Bernardino. The South Pasadena Library Community Room is located at 1115 El Centro Street.
