South Pasadena Chinese-American Club Hosts first-ever ceremony recognizing grant winners in library community room

Individuals making a difference in the city were honored Monday night as the South Pasadena Chinese-American Club (SPCC) presented $15,000 in grants to a variety of local school and community programs.

The first-ever event was held in the South Pasadena Community Room.

“We believe in making our community an even better place to live by contributing to it, by building bridges and by sustaining relationships,” said SPCC President Joe Loo. “The grants program is one way we help, by funding projects and contributing to activities.”

The South Pasadena Chinese-American Club, a non-profit organization, was established in 1989 to provide valuable services to the South Pasadena community by contributing to local schools, promoting cultural awareness and providing a variety of community events.

Along with awardees and guests, South Pasadena Chinese American Club President Joe Loo, Vice President Yuki Cutcheon, Grants Chair Nancy Ray, South Pasadena Unified School District Superintendent Geoff Yantz and members of the Board of Education attended the event.
