The Old Mill Foundation presents Magical Music at the Mill, chamber music under the stars at the Old Mill in San Marino. Each evening will feature a different chamber music ensemble performing on the historic Pomegranate Patio surrounded by the Mill’s beautiful pomegranate trees and lush gardens. Sheu Pettit Duo will perform on Saturday, June 17, 2017.
In addition to enjoying the fine music, concertgoers are invited to view the building, learn about its history, and view the latest California Art Club exhibition, Idyllic Impressions in the Mill’s gallery. Summer concerts at the Old Mill are intimate evenings of chamber music surrounded by the history of early California. Concertgoers are urged to have dinner before they arrive and enjoy a beverage at the no-host refreshment bar before the concert or during intermission. Chairs are provided and the musicians are only steps away from the audience. The gates open at 7:00 pm and the music begins at 8:00 pm.
Guitarists Dr. Connie Sheu and Dr. Adam Pettit have engaged audiences across the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe as soloists and chamber musicians. As the Sheu Pettit Duo, they perform music representing the most inventive compositional talent for guitar duo. Connie and Adam first met as students in the Pepe Romero master classes at USC in 2003. Both received their Doctorate of Musical Arts at USC under William Kanengiser. They are on faculty at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music. Connie is a dynamic guitarist, devoted teacher, and ardent advocate of classical guitar. Her undergraduate work was at Columbia and her Master of Music from the Julliard School. Adam earned his Bachelor of Music and his Master of Music from the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. He collaborates with a number of ensembles in Southern California.
Saturday, June 17’s electric program will include the sounds of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Ida Presti, Clarice Assad, Matthew Denman, and others.
