Senior Center Activities For The Week of December 13-December 22

The South Pasadena Senior Center, located at 1102 Oxley Street in South Pasadena, offers programs and services to enhance the quality of life of senior citizens.

Holiday Cheer: – donations needed.  Now through December 15 the Senior Center is accepting donations of gift cards to local stores, as well as small-boxed sweets and cookies.  Items will be delivered to home-bound senior citizens within South Pasadena just before Christmas.  Please help the Senior Center make a difference.

December 13, 10:30 a.m.: “Popular Christmas Songs” Come celebrate the holiday season by listening, learning and sing-along of favorites Christmas songs like:  The Christmas Song, Winter Wonderland, Let it Snow, White Christmas, Silver Bells, Sleigh Ride and many more. Presented by Saul Jacobs & Bob Lipson, Treats will be served for attendees. Call to reserve your seat.

Wednesday, December 13, 10:30 a.m.: “Chair Yoga” Each month Kathy Eastwood of Huntington Memorial Hospital will offer a class on yoga from a chair. Second Wednesday of each month at 10:30 am, class is limited to 20 participants.  Call to reserve a seat.

Monday, December 18, 10 a.m.: “Card making”   come join us and make festive holiday cards cost is $5.  Class instructed by Joyce Jeffries, all supplies included.

Tuesday, December 19: “Stroke Support Group” Meets Tuesdays, 11am-12:30 pm.  Meet survivors, share courage, change focus to celebrate progress. Led by Reams Freedman, Stroke Association.

Wednesday, December 20: 10 a.m.: “Book Club” meets third Wednesday of each month, 10 am to 11:45 am.  Reading material is scheduled as follows: December 20 “the Mechanical Mind of John Coggin.” Call for details.   Led by Liz Giffen-Glad.  Registration required.

Friday, December 22: Friday Cinema, “National Lampoons Christmas Vacation” As the holidays approach, Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) wants to have a perfect family Christmas, so he pesters his wife, Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo), and children, as he tries to make sure everything is in line, including the tree and house decorations. However, things go awry quickly. His hick cousin, Eddie (Randy Quaid), and his family show up unplanned and start living in their camper on the Griswold property. Even worse, Clark’s employers renege on the holiday bonus he needs. Movies start promptly and 1p.m.
