Surrounded by family, Michael T. Colliau, 62, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, California, after a short illness.

Born on December 8, 1955 to Edmond and Ellie Colliau of South Pasadena, California, Michael was the second of three generations to attend South Pasadena High School. Following his graduation from South Pasadena High School in 1974, he graduated from Oregon State University in 1979 and received his law degree from the University of Utah in 1984 as a Leary Scholar and was the Administrative Editor of the Journal of Contemporary Law and Journal of Energy Law and Policy.

Married to Jeanne Scott at Deer Valley, Utah on May 13, 1989, Colliau returned to South Pasadena in 2001where they raised their two beautiful children, Steven and Taylor, both graduates of South Pasadena High School, and Washington and Lee University and Valparaiso University, respectively.

Michael, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, especially enjoyed his children’s athletic endeavors, the Oregon State Beavers sports teams, and spending time with family and friends.

Michael was known as a person who could tell a good story, liked to laugh, and found fulfillment in helping others with a positive outlook on life. He was an intelligent, genuine, and caring person with a big heart and big personality. This was known especially well to the many who were welcomed into his South Pasadena home, which became a large gathering place for family and friends over the years. Michael and his wife recently purchased a home in La Quinta, California, where he relaxed and renewed his interest in golf.

Michael was a managing trial and contract attorney over a highly successful 34-year career. Most notably, he served as Vice President for the firm of Colliau, Carluccio, Keener, Morrow, Peterson & Parsons in Los Angeles from 1999 to 2016.

A gathering of family and friends will celebrate Michael’s life on Sunday, April 29, at 2 p.m. at South Pasadena High School, 1401 Fremont Avenue, in South Pasadena, California.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Scott Colliau, children Steven Scott Colliau, daughter, Taylor Michelle Colliau, mother Eleanor Arturo Colliau, brother Douglas J. Colliau (Michele), sister Anne Marie Smith (Chris), uncle Peter Arturo (Patricia), cousins Lisa Arturo and Melanie Kaplan (Josh) and nieces and nephews who adored their uncle Mike.
