Puppets & Players Showcase The Wizard of Oz

South Pasadenans, we are in for a treat! The amazing Puppets and Players Little Theatre is coming to the Library Park Lawn, Wednesday June 21 at 3pm. Bring the kids on down for this special delight, and for those of us old enough to remember Mr. Rogers, take a step back in time with real marionette puppets who travel the southland in their very own theatre on wheels!

For this performance, on the Fairview Avenue side of the Library Park lawn, The Puppets and Players Little Theatre will be showcasing The Wizard of Oz with marionettes, songs and dancing performed in their Old World European-style wagon. Families are encouraged to bring a blanket and picnic to the northeast side of Library Park to enjoy the show. It is appropriate for all ages!

Dorothy and her little dog Toto, end up on the other side of the rainbow where they meet with a Scarecrow who wants a brain, a Tin Man who wishes for a heart and a Cowardly Lion whose only desire is to have courage. All the beloved characters from the book dance and sing their way to the Land of OZ. Munchkins sing about Lollipops and Lullabies, the Wicked Witch of the West disappears into a puff of smoke and Glenda floats in on a crystal pink bubble, and in the end,

“There’s No Place Like Home”.

About The Artist & Creator of The Puppets & Players Little Theatre

Laurie Branham grew up surrounded by an artistic family. Working with her father, a professional artist and art director, she learned at a very young age how to draw, paint and design. When she was nine years old, together with her father, they built her very first marionette stage.

Laurie and her father created sets and puppets for many enchanting productions.

This knowledge, acquired early in her life, provided Laurie the basis to later became the designer/builder/puppeteer and owner of The Puppets & Players Little Theatre.

A graduate of the Drama Studio of London, Laurie combines her talents for art and drama by designing and building all the marionettes, sets and writes the scripts for her marionette theatre productions. In addition, Laurie performs as a puppeteer and creates voices for many of the characters in her productions.

She is a long standing member of The Puppeteers Of America.

The Puppets & Players Little Theatre has been on the Roster of Artists/Arts Teach Educational Program through the Segerstrom Center of the Arts, Orange County, for more than 20 years.
