PCC Trustee Linda Wah Named President of Statewide Board

Linda Wah says she’s honored to serve as the president of the California Community College Trustees (CCCT), and will continue the initiatives to ensure that students have access to high-quality education

Linda S. Wah, a longtime Pasadena City College trustee representing South Pasadena among other cities, has been named president of the California Community College Trustees statewide board.

The selection was made over the weekend as the California Community College Trustees (CCCT) convened for their annual business meeting as part of the Community College League of California’s (League) 2019 annual Trustees Conference.

“I am honored to serve as the president of the CCCT, and to continue the initiatives to ensure our California Community College students have access to high-quality education and the assistance and resources to complete and succeed,” said Wah, after learning of the prestigious appointment.

New officers of the CCCT Board begin their term on June 1, 2019. The CCCT Board takes positions on education policy issues that come before the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and the California State Legislature.

“The role of California Community College Trustees and public governance has never been more important for the success of our students and our colleges,” said Larry Galizio, president and CEO of the Community College League of California. “This conference offers an invaluable opportunity for ongoing professional development and information exchange.”

In total, the annual meeting included the election of the following 2019-2020 CCCT Board officers:

  • President: Linda Wah, Pasadena Area CCD
  • President-Elect: Stephan Castellanos, San Joaquin Delta CCD
  • First Vice President: Adrienne Grey, West Valley-Mission CCD
  • Second Vice President: Kenneth Brown, El Camino CCD

Wah was appointed to serve as Area 5 as a PCC Trustee in September 2010 and represents the cities of San Marino, South Pasadena, Temple City) Trustee and successfully ran for election in 2011.

She has more than 27 years of experience as an information technology professional in Los Angeles. Throughout her career, she has focused on utilizing technology to increase organizational efficiency and improve service delivery to the public she has also served on various professional technology advisory boards.

She also has more than 30 years of experience serving on numerous community boards, focusing on educational improvements, fair employment and fair pay issues for women, and awareness of Asian-American and Pacific-Islander community issues. She has served on various boards for Cal State University of Los Angeles (Alumni Board, Charter College of Education, Business School Advisory), and the Pasadena City College President’s Asian American Pacific Islander Advisory committee.

Wah also has a long history of service, at both the local and state level, on various women’s organizations, including the National Women’s Organization (NOW), National Women’s Political Caucus (NWPC), and Women at Work in Pasadena.

She holds two degrees from CSULA: a bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems and an MBA in Management Information Systems. Additionally, she has studied at the University of California, Riverside and the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico, and is an alum of various community colleges (Riverside Community College, LA Trade Tech, East Los Angeles Community College). Two of her children are also alums of Pasadena City College.
