The Lineage Performing Arts Center presents an original dance, theatre, and music piece about three women who learn how to move on after loss which opens Saturday April 7 and runs through April 15. The show runs Saturday and Sunday evenings at The Lineage Performing Arts Center located in Pasadena at 89 South Fair Oaks Avenue.

Lineage’s Hilary Thomas is no stranger to making difficult subjects into inspiring live performances. Her original piece about mental health and suicide, Ceiling In The Floor, was intended to be a single performance in 2015. Entering its fourth year in repertory and its 45th performance, Ceiling has proven to be an important and surprisingly popular show for Thomas and the Lineage Performing Arts Center, largely because of the tenderness and care the piece showed to its subject matter.

Hilary Thomas is back with another challenging piece, and this time she turns her focus to how we move on after a loved one has passed. Weaving together the true and endearing stories of three women–a daughter losing a mother, a wife losing a husband, and a chaplain with thirteen years of counselling mourners–Thomas tells less a story of dying, and more the story of how to live.

“It’s a lesson that resonates whether or not you’re not dealing with grief,” says Lineage’s executive director, Brian Elerding, “but if you have loss in your life, then Life After Death for the Living is going to be a cathartic experience.”

The show blends live storytelling with three actresses, Marisa Echeverria, Lizzie Gracen, and Tess Lina, live piano performed by George Ramirez, and Thomas’ original choreography with the Lineage Dance Company. The Lineage Performing Arts Center’s black box theater holds only fifty guests at a time, making the intimate show even more personal and up-close.
