The review period for the General Plan and Downtown Specific Plan has been extended to Feb. 12 in order to give the community additional time to review and share input on the plan.
“We are looking forward to feedback from our residents that will guide the development of our General Plan and Downtown Specific Plan,” said City Manager Stephanie DeWolfe. “These documents will strategically plan for community needs and desires for years to come.”
As part of the General Plan and Downtown Specific Plan review process, the City will host two additional community meetings to provide an overview of how the plans will guide future land use and resource decisions, review changes to the draft plans and gather community feedback.

· Tuesday, Jan. 28, 6:30 p.m., City Council Chambers, 1414 Mission Street, South Pasadena
· Saturday, Feb. 1, 10 a.m., City Council Chambers, 1414 Mission Street, South Pasadena
In addition, residents are invited to attend the regularly scheduled Planning Commission meetings between now and May 2020 to participate in an open forum regarding specific sections of the plan documents and provide additional feedback. The Planning Commission meetings take place on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers (1414 Mission Street, South Pasadena).
All cities and counties in California are required to have and update a general plan to set forth each city’s long-range policies and reflect the community’s goals and values. The City of South Pasadena last updated its General Plan in 1998. The City’s 2020 General Plan Update will guide key decisions over the next 20 years.
The draft documents were developed from extensive public input (workshops, focus groups, interviews, etc.) that was gathered over the course of 22 months. The public review period for the draft documents has been underway since early November 2019. During that time, the City has hosted three meetings to gain feedback from the public and will continue to engage the community during key milestones to ensure the final plans accurately reflect the community’s vision for the future.
