Exciting Events coming to the Senior Center!

A wide variety of activities are taking place at the South Pasadena Senior Center in February.

The South Pasadena Senior Center invites the public to take advantage of the following programs and services geared to enhance ones quality of life. The Center is open Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm and is located at 1102 Oxley Street in beautiful South Pasadena. The following is offered for the coming week:

Friday, February 9, 10:30 a.m. Diabetes Management, presented by Home Instead Senior Care –Learn about the many myths and reality of the disease. Managing chronic condition whether type 1 or type 2, both can present challenges as one ages. Sign up preferred.

Monday, February 12, 10 a.m. “How to Lose Weight” – Now that the holidays are over, the new year can be a good motivator to help lose those unwelcomed pounds. Just a few pounds can make a difference in how you feel and impact your productivity. Learn tips to achieve results, foods to avoid and how much activity it takes to make a difference. Sign up preferred.

Tuesday, February 13, 4pm Ballroom Dance Class instructing Swing dance steps. $25 per month or $7 for walk-ins , join us!

Wednesday, February 14, 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. – Blood Pressure and Glucose Screening offered by Huntington Hospital. Walk-ins welcome.

Wednesday February 14, 1 pm Elder Wisdom Circle returns – the group is deeply committed to personal growth, positivity and the enormous potential of daily choices. Join us and we embrace the journey of aging. Walk in welcome.

Thursdays, February 15, 5 – 7:30 p.m. VITA Tax Assistance for Senior Citizens – Free tax preparation offered by appointments for those having earned income for 2017 under $60,000. Service is provided with IRS-certified volunteers. Sign up today.

Friday, February 16, 10:30 am, “Medi-Ccal for Low Income Senior Citizens” – A representative from Center for Health Care Rights will explain: Who is eligible for Medi-Cal with a Share of Cost? How does Medi-Cal Share of Cost Work? The program is useful when having to place a loved one in an assisted living facility. Learn where once can get assistance. Sign up needed.

Friday, February, 23, 2018 “Chinese New Year Celebration” , sponsored by South Pasadena Chinese American Club held at War Memorial Building. Reservations are required, contact the Senior Center.
