South Pasadenans and other guests danced and drank their way through a lovely spring evening at The Barkley on Sunday for the Eclectic Preview Party. The Barkley’s dance floor was packed with revelers as they moved their way through some excellent jazz as well as a jazz/ska fusion band.
Smiles were in abundance during the silent auction as well as a very vocal one, led by former mayor, Odom Stamps, to a lot of cheering and laughter. One of the big ticket items was to announce the headliner band at this year’s Eclectic, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.
Marie Miller of SPACE was honored along with South Pasadena Library’s Steve Fjelsted, with the Creative Community Award for their contributions to art, music and culture in South Pasadena.
South Pasadena’s Brad Colerick and crew jammed with David Plenn who revved up the crowd with their soulful blend of rock and roll, folk and R&B.
The highlight for me personally was a special performance by The Angel Town Combo who happened to play one of my favorite Skatalites song. It was a wonderful evening and a great reminder that sometimes you just have to stop and enjoy the music and good company surrounding you.
This year’s Eclectic event is April 24, 2018 for more information head over to
