Justin Turner, who belted a thrilling walk off homer in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series against the Chicago Cubs, came through again Monday night, breaking a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the sixth with a blast over the left field wall to help the Dodgers to a 3-1 victory over the Houston Astros in Game 1 of the World Series.

“This place was the most electric I have ever seen it,” said Turner after the home run in front of a home crowd. “With the first World Series here in 29 years, our fans are fired up, they’re pumped. The buzz around the city is crazy. Obviously, we’re all excited to let them enjoy this with us.”

Joining Turner with productive nights on the big stage were teammates Chris Taylor and Clayton Kershaw.

Taylor led off the Fall Classic with a homer in the bottom of the first. Kershaw gave up a home run to the Astros’ third baseman Alex Bregman in the fourth, but was masterful in seven innings of work, allowing just one run, three hits, no walks while striking out 11.

The series will continue Wednesday night with Rich Hill on the mound for the Dodgers to face the Astros, Justin Verlander. Game time is 5:09 p.m.
