Baseball Night with Jon Soohoo

A night with a prolific photographer of LA history

SouthPasadenan.com | Jon Soohoo with legendary Joe Torre

Jon SooHoo, the official photographer for the Los Angeles Dodgers, will be joining us in South Pasadena on Thursday, August 17th at 7:00pm. He will share and discuss his favorite photos, as well as answer any questions people may have for him.

SooHoo started working for the Dodgers 32 years ago, after graduating from USC. He is recognized among the Los Angeles Chinese community as the grandson of New Chinatown founder Peter SooHoo Sr. New Chinatown was created when the original downtown Chinatown was demolished for the construction of Union Station on Alameda Street.

One of the photographer’s favorite subjects is Vin Scully, the recently retired broadcaster of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He and Scully traveled to the White House together to record the Presidential Medal of Freedom ceremony. SooHoo and Scully are quite close, and his relationship with the broadcaster is sure to be brought up at this event.

From posed pictures and live-action shots, to shooting from a helicopter above the baseball field, SooHoo’s work is unmatched and is sure to ‘wow’ your minds!

The night will be presented by the Library, the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library, and the South Pasadena Chinese American Club. It will be moderated by Mark Langill, official historian of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and ballpark-type snacks will be served. Special thanks to 210eastsound.
