Fourth of July – Festival of Balloon – is quickly approaching and here is all you need to know about the big day!

“Our Schools – The Pride of South Pasadena.” It’s a tribute to the award winning schools in South Pasadena!

Pancake Breakfast: (sales begin 6/20 at locations below)

The Kiwanis Club is hosting its annual pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m., at the South Pasadena Fire Station, 817 Mound Avenue, adjacent City Hall. Tickets are $8 but kids 6 and under eat for free. Tickets go on sale starting June 20 at the following locations:

Opening Ceremonies:

Special dignitaries, including members of the City Council and Board of Education, help to kick off the Festival of balloons starting at 10:30 at the South Pasadena Library Community Room, 1115 El Centro St.

Festival of  Balloons Parade:

Get ready for a full hour or more of fun as the parade, starting at Diamond Ave. and moving east to Garfield Park, will start at 11 a.m. It will feature music, Little League teams, kids from the South Pasadena Public Library Summer Reading Program, jugglers, AYSO players, local non-profits and a lot more. This is one hometown parade you do not want to miss.

Activities in the Park:

Food, beverages, games and activities for kids will take place from noon to 4 p.m. in the Garfield Park. A big attraction each year is a concert from members of the Minutemen Band, comprised mainly of South Pasadena High present and alumni band members.

Fireworks Tickets: (sales begin 6/20 at locations below)

$10 Pre-sale or $13 on the night of the event at South Pasadena High’s football field, 1401 Fremont Avenue. Fireworks show starts at 9 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.

Important: Water can be brought onto the field. No food will be permitted on the field but food trucks will be selling items. There will be restricted areas for eating and drinking beverages other than water. Chairs with rounded bottoms are permitted on the field. Chairs with pointed legs will damage the artificial turf and are not permitted.
